Start with the purpose of moving to Bulgaria
Bulgaria may interest a business owner who wants to live closer to European customers, a family arranging a new everyday home or an investor considering a local project. These intentions do not mean that everyone qualifies on the same residence basis. Start by defining the result: a place to live, participation in an operating company, a local business or the assessment of an investment option.
LegalRegistr accepts Bulgaria residence and relocation enquiries. You can write before choosing a procedure: describe nationality, current residence, family composition and intended activity. This helps identify questions for review and a practical next step. Available assistance, documents and terms are confirmed for the applicant; approval or a universal route cannot be promised in advance.
Residence eligibility comes before a company label
Incorporating a Bulgarian company, acquiring one and obtaining personal residence permission are separate matters. A company may be needed for contracts and operations, but a shareholding or directorship does not itself establish an individual’s right to settle. Distinguish the corporate objective from the personal one: what entity do you need and what residence basis do you wish to explore?
For a business enquiry, explain the existing venture, its jurisdiction, real operations and proposed connection with Bulgaria. For an investment enquiry, outline the project and funding source. For a family objective, describe relationships and relatives’ current status. This makes it possible to assess an appropriate basis rather than choosing a formal company appointment around a residence promise.
Review the legal option before committing capital
An investment deserves two assessments: whether it meets the applicable residence conditions and whether it makes economic sense on its own merits. Avoid acquiring an asset or transferring funds simply because a commercial description links it to a future passport. Investment category, acceptable structure, evidence of resources and continuing obligations require individual review.
Your message can describe the preferred involvement: a local company, a real project or another asset under consideration. Include an approximate budget and whether you expect to participate in operations. We do not publish a universal residence purchase price: equal amounts do not make different investments interchangeable. Establish the relevant requirements and evidence before taking on commitments.
Visa D and the order of preparation
Where your circumstances require a long-stay visa D, its preparation should be connected with the intended residence basis. Bulgaria’s official foreign ministry guidance requires a personal interview for a long-stay visa. Remote correspondence at the beginning therefore does not imply that the applicant can complete every stage without attending personally.
Before ordering certificates, clarify the place of application, documents required for the basis and how their validity fits the trip. Mention any visas or residence permissions already held. A short visit and a long-term move are different processes. Housing, school arrangements and winding up affairs in the current country are easier to plan once the sequence is clear.
Family planning without an unnecessary initial file
A family needs to identify who will move first, who will follow and the circumstances of each person. List spouses, children’s ages and other relatives you hope to include. A description for one applicant category should not be assumed to cover parents, adult children or other relatives without an individual eligibility review.
Prepare an inventory of civil-status records and issuing countries. This helps frame translations, certification and any apostille in the appropriate order. Passport scans and a complete dossier are unnecessary for the first message. If the move depends on a school year, treatment or the expiry of a lease, include those circumstances when describing timing.
Housing, income and everyday arrangements
Choosing where to live in Bulgaria depends on your routine: access to customers, a nearby school, a quieter family setting or regular trips abroad. Describe the preferred city and type of accommodation. This guide concerns residence planning, rather than a promise of a specific property or a LegalRegistr office in the chosen location.
Think through how the household will be supported, how recurring expenses will be paid and what income evidence is available. A clear structure of receipts is more useful than one overall figure. Financial and housing documents are determined by the relevant procedure; do not order a package from an informal universal checklist.
Business management and tax questions
An entrepreneur can outline operations after the move: where the team works, who signs contracts, where income comes from and who manages the company. If a Bulgarian entity will work alongside an existing overseas business, explain both functions. Buying a shelf company may address a corporate objective but does not replace review of personal immigration status.
Residence permission does not automatically produce tax savings or remove obligations in the previous country. Raise personal tax residence, company distributions and the intended place of management separately. An advertised rate is not a calculation of your own liabilities. Permission to work, reside and conduct a particular activity also needs checking under the relevant rules.
Bulgarian citizenship is a separate question
The special investment citizenship provisions referred to in earlier offers have been repealed. We therefore do not present an investment as a guaranteed way to obtain a Bulgarian passport or promise citizenship after a fixed number of years. Naturalisation is a separate procedure with its own applicable conditions.
If citizenship is your eventual objective, say so explicitly. This helps distinguish a long-term intention from assistance with residence. The enquiry offered here concerns relocation to Bulgaria, rather than the sale of citizenship. A residence card, accommodation or business should not be turned into a promise about a government decision.
Write a useful first enquiry
For example: “I own a company outside Bulgaria and am considering moving with my spouse and child. I want to understand a suitable residence basis, preparation stages and the connection with a proposed local business.” Add nationality, current residence, preferred timing and any questions on which you have already decided.
Include budget, investment category, family paperwork and income plans in the main message. Do not provide account numbers, passwords, bank statements or passport copies through the initial form. First clarify the assistance needed and the materials relevant to your circumstances, then agree the process for further document exchange.
What follows your message
LegalRegistr reviews the enquiry and clarifies objectives and questions requiring individual assessment. Availability of services, specialist participation, scope and fees are confirmed before an order. The recipient and purpose are agreed with you before personal information is shared with a specific external specialist.
An enquiry does not oblige you to move or order assistance. LegalRegistr is not a Bulgarian immigration authority and does not decide visas, residence or citizenship. You can begin with the choice of a residence basis and establish a defined discussion without taking investment commitments on the strength of a general guide.
Residence questions
Is incorporating a company enough for residence?
No. Company registration and an individual residence basis require separate assessment.
Can I begin before selecting an investment?
Yes. Describe the objective and proposed involvement; check the investment’s suitability before a transaction.
Is the process entirely remote?
The first enquiry can be sent online. Official guidance requires a personal interview for visa D.
Is a passport guaranteed after five years?
No. Citizenship is regulated separately; residence and investments do not guarantee naturalisation.
