Polish business registers: find a company in KRS or CEIDG
Choose the right register before looking for a Polish business or requesting its documents.

Choose KRS or CEIDG before looking for a business
The legal form determines your starting point in Poland. Use KRS for companies such as sp. z o.o. or S.A.; use the CEIDG search on Biznes.gov.pl for an individual entrepreneur. An empty result in one service does not establish that the business is unregistered: you may be searching a different type of register.
Ask for the full legal name and identifiers from the business documents. KRS, tax identifier NIP and statistical identifier REGON serve different purposes. Check the field label before entering a number. For an individual entrepreneur, a person's first and last names may be more useful than a shop's trading name.
A practical KRS search sequence
- Open the official KRS service above in its new tab, leaving this guide available.
- Choose the relevant register section and use the available field for the identifier or name you know.
- Begin with one precise identifier. If no entry appears, check spelling and unnecessarily restrictive filters.
- Compare the full name, number and location of the result with the counterparty's documents.
- Select the kind of registration information you need and keep the document with its retrieval date.
The Polish Ministry of Justice states that a KRS search does not require an account. Information corresponding to a current or full extract is available; the full version also includes deleted entries. Choose according to whether you need the present position or a history of changes.
Finding an entrepreneur in CEIDG
Open the second official service and use the available search fields for the name or identifier you hold. If several entries match, compare further identifying details. A shared trading sign is not sufficient to select the correct record.
Where several people are involved in a business, establish who is actually contracting with you. A store name, an entrepreneur's name and a company name may refer to different search subjects. Keep the relevant record and compare it with the agreement, which should clearly identify the counterparty.
Separate registration documents from transaction assessment
Register information helps identify a business but does not demonstrate that a future contract will be performed. If a bank or foreign authority needs a document, ask which type of extract and translation it will accept. Reading an entry, obtaining a document and arranging additional formalities are separate tasks. Consult the official service for its current conditions.
Request assistance with a Polish business
Include the legal form, name, known KRS/NIP/REGON identifiers and intended use of the document. If the appropriate register is unclear, provide the counterparty's website link in your description without passwords or private signing keys. The first step is to clarify the task; availability and cost of particular materials are agreed before an order.
