What to prepare
The Bulgarian Commercial Register and the register of non-profit legal entities share a portal, so confirm that the result belongs to the entity type you seek. Ask for the full Cyrillic company name and the unified identification code, usually written EIK or UIC. Transliteration into Latin letters is useful for conversation but less reliable as the only search key.
How to search the official register
At the Registry Agency portal choose the Commercial Register, then Reports. Search the legal entity using its EIK when known; otherwise try the exact registered name. Open the matching file and compare company form, address, representatives and available filing history. The report menu also separates current circumstances from document or application searches.
Interpret the result carefully
If an agent signs on behalf of the Bulgarian company, compare the person’s authority with the current register entry and the transaction documents. A company may have several representatives or rules for joint action. An entry for a non-profit entity is not the same as a commercial company record.
Which document do you need?
Decide whether you need a reference to the public file, a copy of a filed act or a formal certificate. The portal controls available documents and any access conditions. For assistance, send the EIK, the original Bulgarian spelling and the specific question a bank or counterparty has asked.
If a search is inconclusive
If Latin spelling produces no result, switch to the name written in Bulgarian and use the EIK. Compare whether the search is in the commercial or non-profit section, and ask for a registration document if the stated code cannot be reconciled with the legal name. When changes are pending, distinguish the currently recorded circumstances from a newly submitted application.
